20 weeks!

Half way done!
Kitty decided to pose with me in this one...
How big is baby?
Our little guy is the size of a cantaloupe, about 6.5 inches long and 10 ounces.
Movement?
Still kicking, rolling, and twisting all the time.
Belly button?
Still in. Whew.
Cravings?
Oranges. I also ate a lot of pasta to get ready for the race yesterday. I read that he's already tasting what I eat through the amniotic fluid, so I'm going to make sure our little guy LOVES fruits and veggies, unlike his father (sorry Jared)!
Best moment of the week?
Finishing the Seattle Half Marathon in 2:21:58. Faster than I thought I would run. It was a beautiful course. I had been warned about the hills, and must have talked them up so much to myself that they didn't seem that bad when I actually ran up them. They were definitely steep, but this pregnant lady didn't stop running. The above picture is with my medal.

I went to the race with a few friends from my running group and had a lot of fun all day. The half marathon was first, so we cheered for the marathon runners after we finished. I'm usually running the marathon, so I never get a chance to cheer at the finish line. It was pretty exciting to see so many different people finish. Between the marathon and the half, there were about 17,000 participants.

After everybody finished, we went out to lunch in West Seattle at Talarico's Pizzeria & Lounge, home of the 14-inch slice of pizza. One runner in our group decided to order an entire pizza (and try to eat it all). It was bigger than our table. The waitress set it up on a stand, and they had to eat with their plates under the pizza. He ate 5.5 pieces. I was impressed after getting full off of a single slice. I took a picture on my phone (apologies for the blur and all...).
Looking forward to?
Three weeks left of work until winter break. I had a long Thanksgiving break due to snow days. No work on Tuesday or Wednesday (hooray for snow in the northwest), Thanksgiving break Thursday and Friday. It was really hard to convince myself to get out of bed so I could work at 7am today. But that winter break will be wonderful.

19 weeks!

How big is baby?
The baby is the size of a mango, about 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces.
Movement?
All the time. And not just movement - I'm getting a few jabs here and there. I guess the baby really wants me to know it's in there.
Belly button?
Getting really shallow...
Cravings?
Chicken noodle soup? Probably because I'm so thirsty. Otherwise, I haven't had much luck with food, especially meat. I'm hungry all the time, but nothing sounds good!
Best moment of the week?
Several comments at work of how "cute" I am. I must finally look pregnant to someone other than Jared and myself.
Looking forward to?
Early release from work on Wednesday. Another OB appointment on Wednesday. A relaxing 4-day Thanksgiving weekend. Running the Seattle Half Marathon on Sunday.

If you haven't heard, Western Washington is getting hit with a "blizzard." It is amazing how a little snow makes people crazy out here. But the snow is SO beautiful!

It is a lot more hilly here, but it appears as if nobody has ever seen snow before. People are (1) really aggressive and end up in the ditch, (2) afraid to drive faster than 20 mph, or (3) frightened beyond belief - these are the people who literally stop their cars on the road and walk home. Not off to the side, not necessarily on a side street. Just wherever they decide to stop. I can't imagine that would ever be the most logical choice in this weather.

My drive home on the freeway wasn't bad, but I drive opposite the majority of traffic. Once I got off the freeway, I was going about 5 mph on the main road leading to my apartment. Traffic was THAT backed up. Maybe a little slush on the road. Not slippery at all. Not even snowing. The good news is that I didn't have to touch the gas pedal for at least a mile!

They closed many roads during rush hour due to ice on bridges and ridiculous backups from accidents. Here are the snow totals so far according to KOMO 4 NEWS:

The wind has really picked up in the last few hours, and it makes quite a noise with our fireplace. Simon is easily spooked by this (well...pretty much all noises). I can't wait to see him with the 50 mph gusts we are supposed to have tonight.

18 weeks!

A little late ... Jared's car died last weekend, so we were a bit preoccupied.

More ultrasound pictures!

Freaky 5k Halloween Fun Run

The pictures are up! My friend, Erin, and I ran this 5k on October 30th. It was a little cold and rainy. My favorite weather! We finished in 27:39. I wasn't expecting to run that fast, but it felt good! I even managed to beat Erin by a few seconds - I think she let the pregnant lady win.

Right around the first mile, the little girl in this picture asked, "Is it almost over?"

Thank you, Imaging Northwest, for the great pictures! The colorful trees in the background add a wonderful reminder of how beautiful it is in the fall.

17 weeks!

How big is baby?
Onion. Baby is measuring 5.1 inches, 5.9 ounces. Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
Movement?
More consistent throughout the day. Jared swears he felt it move the other day while I was sleeping.
Cravings?
No new cravings. Unfortunately, morning sickness has decided to come back for a (hopefully short) visit and I really haven't felt like eating all weekend.
Sleep?
Improving. Fortunately, daylight savings time worked in my favor for an extra hour of sleep on Sunday. Also helped for my lovely 7am meeting today. Who does that on Mondays?
News of the week.
Nothing too exciting, just spending my time working and running when I have the energy. I'm looking forward to our tour of the Birth Center on Saturday and my appointment next Tuesday to see how everything is going.

16 weeks!

I thought I'd start keeping track of a few things along the way...

How big is baby?
Baby is the size of an avocado, with an average size of 4.6 inches, 3.5 ounces.

Movement?
I've started feeling movement in the last week. It started in the evenings, but now happens during the day too.
Cravings?
Arby's. Actually just roast beef, to be specific. I made an amazing french dip for dinner tonight, complete with Au Jus. Yum!
Sleep?
Improving. I got a wonderful pillow for my birthday to help with the lack of sleep I've been experiencing. It's a C-shaped body pillow that takes up (over) half of the bed. I was thoroughly entertained by the information on how to use it, especially the pictures of the elderly woman. I do love the variety of uses for this lovely pillow.

Accomplishments of the week?
I ran a Halloween 5k with a friend (photos to come) and a 9-mile long run the next day in preparation for my half marathon at the end of November. Running for two is a lot harder than running for one. I have figured out what I will be wearing to the race. On my shirt.
Too cheesy?
