Oh the things Miles says
![]() |
| Proud of his Easter eggs! |
Here's a few of them:
"I'll be right back!" ... leaves room to get a toy... "Miles is back!"
"What?" when we call his name from another room.
Jared got a spider for me on the wall with a shoe. For the next half hour Miles kept saying "Daddy hit spider! Big boom! Spider on the wall! Big boom!"
"I don't wanna!"
"Bless you" when someone sneezes or coughs.
"I can't get it!"
Miles, look at the dog. "Brown dog!" He loves describing the color of everything.
"Thank you!" and "Welcome!"
"Give it."
"Big one!" or "Little one!"
"I want to have it."
"Mine!" ... "Yours."
"Want to hold it."
"Hi!" and "Bye"
"I got it!" and "I did it!"
"My turn, your turn."
"That's funny."

22 months
Miles has learned so much in the last month. He speaks in sentences most of the time. It's definitely easier for me to understand him than anybody else, but he's getting there. He loves reading books to us by telling us what is happening in the pictures. Miles says "I want" this or that, and "uh huh" or "na uh" for yes/no. He enjoys telling me what to do - and if I'm not listening right away he grabs my hand to show me what he wants. He loves coloring, painting, and drawing on my whiteboard. His favorite toys right now are cars and balls. He says "cheese" when I hold up the camera. Miles also picks out his own clothes. One day he decided to wear his striped fleece, hat, and slippers. Great outfit!
Miles loves his Simon. He figured out Simon has pink pads on the bottom of his feet (Simon's "pink toes"). He was playing with Simon in this video and saw a baby on tv...
He enjoys reading his color book. I didn't catch it on the video, but at one point he kept pushing the button and saying the same color over and over. It was hilarious!
Here's a video of a typical day with Miles. He is a busy boy!

Potty
Miles pooped on his potty chair! During his bath tonight he started to look like he was ready to poop in the tub. I told him we don't poop in the tub, but we can poop in the potty. His response to everything right now is "NO," but he agreed to sit on the potty when I offered him a treat (an M&M). He sat on the potty and Jared held his hands. We weren't sure he did anything, but when he stood up, we saw it. We'll see if this is the start of potty training or just a fluke. Miles was so excited that he got a few M&Ms for his treat!
Miles and I were sick this weekend and Jared got a picture of us napping on the couch.
He's getting pretty good at saying his own name.
Miles decided it would be fun to climb (and stand) on the rocking chair. Yikes!
We went to the new Buffalo Wild Wings in Federal Way for supper last week. Being a new restaurant, everything took a little longer than we hoped. And they were out of crayons, so the hostess gave Miles a plain kids menu to "read." No worries, Miles passed time by drinking ranch dressing. He was beyond ready to go by the time we got the check, so he threw his first tantrum in public. So fun. But one of the waitresses rescued us by giving Miles stickers for his cheeks. He was instantly happy and we left without a huge issue.
As we were tearing down the Christmas decorations, Miles had to play with his tree one more time. He had a lot of fun pointing the star to me, the ceiling, lights, and tv. He thought it was hilarious to poke the tree up the basketball hoop. The star got stuck in the net, but Miles fixed it.

Happy New Year!
We had a busy Christmas vacation. Miles spent a lot of time with his friends, opened a lot of great presents, and celebrated the new year with us at home.
Miles enjoyed decorating cookies on Christmas Eve with friends. They all thought it was hilarious to climb in the dog kennel. He opened Christmas presents on Christmas day, quickly figuring out what to do. He made sure to hand us every tiny scrap of paper he tore from the presents so we could put the paper in the trash. His big gift from us was a rocking puppy like the one he loves at the gym.
We went to Zoo Lights at Point Defiance Zoo on Christmas. It's basically a huge display of lights at the zoo. Most of the animal exhibits were blocked off, but we did get to see the aquarium and baby tigers.
On New Year's Eve, we had a play date at the Children's Museum in Tacoma. Miles loved playing at the water tables. He made a shaker with an empty water bottle, rice, beans, and paper. He climbed and explored the indoor playground equipment and loved watching the balls go through the air tubing (similar to the bank drive-up). We celebrated New Year's Eve at home with Miles. I can't believe how much he has grown this year!
Miles is learning his colors, and is very consistent with naming everything that is blue and green, and is fairly consistent with orange. He can find colors when we ask including red, yellow, purple, pink, white, and black. He loves counting everything, but usually skips the number 5 when he's counting quickly. He loves coloring and painting, building towers with blocks (and knocking them over), making baskets in his basketball hoop, and helping with chores.
Miles really wanted to play peek-a-boo in this video:
