Kicking and bike ride

Miles has a new favorite activity with the ball: kicking! He walks all over the apartment chasing the ball so he can kick it.

Last weekend, Miles and I drove all the way up to Bremerton to get a bike trailer off Craigslist. I found a great deal, by the way. $100 for a trailer that sells for almost $600 new! 

We finally had a chance to try it out today. It was a bit of a challenge to connect to my bike right away because I don't have a kickstand on my road bike, so it was a bit awkward. I figured it out, though, and it should be a little easier from now on. I think Miles enjoyed the ride for the most part. He fussed once or twice, and made some long, drawn-out noises when I was going downhill. It almost sounded like he just liked the sound of his voice when the trailer hit small bumps on the trail. 

I didn't get a picture of my bike hooked up to the trailer with Miles inside, but here's a picture of us with our helmets on after the ride.

Birthday Party

We had a party for Miles with a few friends at The Rock. It was a lot of fun!

 We went to the park after his party. It was about 75 degrees. Couldn't have asked for a better day! Miles got over his fear of nature. He's standing barefoot in the grass!

Miles's cake was fun to make. First, make white cake mix and divide into bowls. Add food coloring.

 I made a 3-layer cake for Miles's birthday, so we had an extra layer to eat this week. Yum!

ONE!

Miles is already 1 year old! When did that happen?

Miles had his 12 month well-baby checkup yesterday. Miles is 23 pounds 5 ounces and 29.5 inches tall. His pediatrician thinks the height measurement is a big short, so he's actually probably just over 30 inches tall. Miles had 3 different immunizations yesterday too. Now they go in his arm. Poor little guy screamed for the MMR. It didn't last too long though. He just needed some cuddles with his mama.

It's close to 70 degrees today. Miles and I went to the park after getting him a new pair of shoes from the consignment store. Converse shoes just like his mama!

One of Jared's friends sent cupcakes for Miles. He had a lot of fun with it. And they were delicious!
